Bob Tarr is a talented saxophone player based out of the Fraser Valley in British Columbia. Bob grew up in Prince Rupert, B.C. and had the opportunity to play with a wealth of terrific musicians in his younger years. He earned a Bachelor of Jazz from Capilano College in North Vancouver in 1994. Soon after, he earned his teaching certificate from Simon Fraser University. Bob Tarr currently runs the music program at Hope Secondary School in Hope B.C.
Bob is involved in many different bands and projects and is well versed in a wide range of musical styles and genres. He is currently playing with six working bands in the Lower Mainland including Groove n' Tonic, The Jazz Banditz, and Left Coast Group as well as various other combinations of musicians for specific gigs. Whether performing as a duo with piano or as a full 7 piece funk band, there is a music for every occasion.
Bob also has a passion for composing and arranging. He arranges all of the horn charts for his bands and enjoys writing music in various styles. The album Jazz Banditz - Getaway is available on iTunes and features some of Bob's original music.
Bob enjoys playing all of his saxes but favours the 1961 Selmer Mark VI Tenor with the Guardala MBII mouthpiece.
